Wonder where Graziano is now??? Breaking into the scrap yard, since the owner seems to infer that it was an "inside" job.

Reward offered in scrap-yard theft

SCRANTON - The owners of a burglarized scrap yard are offering a $10,000 cash reward for information leading to arrest and conviction of those involved in the Sunday morning incident.

Someone broke the window at Ben Weitsman & Son scrap yard at 1500 N. Keyser Ave. early Sunday and left with a safe that contained cash, said Weitsman spokesman Stephen Donnelly. While the facility did have video surveillance, the burglars removed the DVR unit and recordings.

"They came in with a mission," Mr. Donnelly said. "They knew what they wanted and where to get it."

I don't believe either of Mellow's daughters are married.

Some security at this place.  Must be top of the line.  There had to be a vehicle involved cuz you don't walk away with a safe on your back.  That's for sure.

Why would the city be paying him? He was not an employee when he was arrested.

The fact that they couldn't head off the charges speaks for itself.  This isn't Carl's first dance.  He's going to have to face the music.

The deal will be made, the junkman will drop charges.Doherty will help his godson out of this with a little deal making or promise or threat to the junkman. What will happen if it comes out that something about the propriority of permits and or proper procedure getting the proper permits or licenses for this operation were not followed? Can the City shut this operation down? I am sure something can be done so the operation can stay there without any further issues. Then after all charges are withdrawn Little Carl can have his job with the City back. After he goes to gambling rehab. Does Clearbrook have a wing for cronies with gambling or thievery problems? And if they do, does the bus pick these people up or does the mayor deliver them?

It's not a lot of money to the scrapyard owner.  Not even a drop of water in a bucket for that matter.  He'll let Carl pay it off over time to keep bad publicity from flowing.  I'm pretty surprised this ended up on the first page, but then I realized that Louis DeNaples is his direct competition.  Makes complete sense now.  Money talks at the Times.

And when money talks around here it's Louie doing the talking.

As in the theft of any amount of cash, restitution is the immediate issue.  If Carl can't come up with the money and the business has to make a claim out of it he's going to be fried.  But if he can, the heavy stuff goes away.  Probation if he's a first offender.  Screwed if he's not.

Anybody who can blow $47,000.00 in one afternoon is my kind of guy.  You know why? I thought Chris Doherty was the only guy who could pull that off.  At least Graziano knew the name of the black hole [blackjack] he tossed all that cash into.

If he cashed a check for $100,000, what was in the safe? Afterall, it is a cash business.

So after reading all the bumped threads on Graziano I guess it's safe to say there won't be charges. The new guy in town who owns the scrapyard probably got briefed on how things are around here, and he's loaded with cash, so there you go! He fits right in, and Graziano gets away again. Someday somebody's daughter or wife will get hurt and it'll be too late.

Strange that there was a rash of unsolved thefts in City Hall and everyone was getting blamed but Carl.  Maybe he was the culprit the whole time.  Makes complete sense.  He and that fatassed Mike Mitchell did nothing but ride around all day looking for a place to hide.

This problem he may have didn't just happen in the last two months. I was wondering where he got the funds to support his gambling before he sold out to the junkman? How does the figures look for the year from permits and licenses at City Hall? Maybe Rosie can do an audit on those books? What kind of paper trail is going to be left to audit?

What moron would leave 7G's in his car..Oh yeah that is right Carl would. We all know he had a drinking problem when he had the accident a couple years ago. Let's play the mental disorder game and see where it gets him, most likely no where. He is looking at a Federal Offense here, so even if he pleads mental distress he can still end up in prison where they do have mental wards. Good Luck Carl hope to see you in a couple and make sure you DOn't bend over to pick up the soap.

THE CARTOON IS OUT OF SIGHT.  CARL WOULD LOVE IT IF HE SAW IT.

Let's see, so now we have had either currently working or formerly employed at city hall:

1. drug dealers

2. drug users

3. thieves

4. embezzlers

Were most of these employees educated in the Scranton School district?

so, in other words, carl was mentally with it enough to gamble, knowing he would owe some 'big' boy for that money, mentally stable enough to tell a nurse what he'd done. they mention the suicide warning to begin building a case where he will get off free. there is still money missing, according to the article.

he'll get off. the employer won't press charges because doherty will make a deal with him to look the other way if complaints come in about the scrap yard.

RE: In the wind: Carl Graziano, former City Inspector questioned on $77,000.00 missing from salvage operation

Scranton man charged for stealing from employer

A city man faces charges after he allegedly stole $100,000 from the scrap metal business he was working for.

While working as site manager for Weitsman's Recycling Center, 1500 N. Keyser Ave., Carl Graziano Jr., 24, cashed a $100,000 check from the company's bank account on July 22, according to a criminal complaint.

On July 24, Mr. Graziano's employer tried to contact him as the business' safe was found empty and left open that morning, according to the complaint.

City police officers went looking for Mr. Graziano after the employer reported that he told him he planned to commit suicide, according to the complaint.

Mr. Graziano was located at his parents' Wilbur Street home and taken into custody for a mental health evaluation. Mr. Graziano is the son of Scranton police Capt. Carl Graziano. Officers later found Mr. Graziano's silver Volkswagen Jetta and the remainder of the stolen money - $7,520 - in a parking lot in South Abington Twp., according to the complaint.

Mr. Graziano had lost more than $50,000 at the Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs casino in Plains Twp. over several weeks, including $46,700 on July 22, the complaint states.

Mr. Graziano later told a nurse at Community Medical Center that he intended to kill himself because "he had stolen some money from his boss," according to the complaint.

Mr. Graziano was arraigned on theft charges and released on $25,000 unsecured bail.
